How Microsoft Teams is fuelling a collaborative culture shift, and why everyone should be taking advantage.
The word “collaboration” is used regularly in the workplace – but it has different meanings depending on your workplace culture, environment and ability to adopt new tools.

The traditional meeting involves inviting attendees (potentially from globally dispersed locations) into one room to make decisions and achieve a goal.
However, even if all attendees are in the same place, if the meeting has not been thought out and effectively managed, the desired outcome may not be achieved, and follow-up meetings may be required to achieve the goal.
Often an ad-hoc Microsoft Teams group chat or VoIP call can achieve an answer in 10 minutes without having to check calendar availability for an hour-long meeting in 2 weeks’ time.
Often, senior individuals are invited to find out (only during the meeting) that they are not needed. Think of the outcome of the meeting and invite only those who are required to achieve the end goal or will add value to the meeting. If an attendee is invited to keep them informed, create a OneNote notebook to hold meeting notes in the Teams channel and they can be checked at a time that suits them.
If there is a meeting room available, book it, but always add a Teams Meeting link to the invitation. This gives all your attendees the flexibility to attend, particularly if they are in different locations. You no longer need to meet in the same room in an office. Whether you are working from home, in another office or from a café, Teams provides all the tools you need to collaborate. Try turning on video (blur your background if you’re at home or a café), share your screen and use the whiteboard or shared OneNote notebook to share ideas and jot down decisions.
Using OneNote notebooks in your Teams meeting, you are providing the flexibility to your attendees to collaborate before, during and after the meeting. If it is already shared, no need to email it out!
Running flexible and efficient meetings on a platform like Microsoft Teams can considerably reduce costs which would have been incurred for travel and expenses.
